Its the smallest things that count !!

I have been sick for almost a week with a chest infection so i havent been feeling like sewing let alone chatting or anything that didnt involve sleeping lol
but alas today i actually had the inspiration to make something,
All though i am a great beliver that quilts belong on beds i thought with christmas comming up i would make a small wall hanging for a very bare wall in our house. santa and rudy were my first attempt at applique and i think i pulled it off pretty well for a first timer.

here is also a picture of a phone dangle for my mobile phone. my sister lisa made it for me i thought it was great!!
the idea of these phone dangles is 1. to add a little bling to my phone and 2.so i can tell the difference between my phone and my sister sam's phone (we both have the same type and colour phone. 3. it has a little bell on it so i know i have it with me cause it dingles when i walk.

Quilting Horoscope

being that i am born on the 18th july that makes me a CANCERIAN and here is my Quilting horrorscope

Cancer - June 22 to July 22 Cancer makes quilts to please themselves not to showcase. They do appreciate compliments on their work but being timid they aren't likely to enter a quilt in a competition. They want their quilts to be practical and comfortable and aren't likely to hang one on the wall, but actually use them on beds. Being cautious they are most likely to stick to the traditional designs. They are not likely to add decorative touches, such as trims or whatnots. They believe that quilts are naturally beautiful and do not need embellishments. They love to use dark rich colours in their quilts considering these as more practical. When they discover a quilt shop they like, they become lifetime, loyal customers.

Heart - These dreams

i know this is nothing to do with quilting other than the fact that this is the kind of music i quilt to.
OMG i dont know what the neighbours think when im screaming out these power ballads lol
They must think im strangling the cat or something cause i would have to be the worlds worst singer. lol

One of my all time favourites, leather and lace by stevie nicks

Squishie Season

I would like to say firstly that i am stoked to have won the competition on swoozies blog for her 100th posting.
My squishie of goodies arrived today all the way from texas. I was so excited i opened it down on the foot path at my mail box.
I have had the biggest grin on my dial from the moment i saw the big envelope sitting on top on my mail box. thank you so much swooze the fabrics are absolutley fabulous. this will give me inspiration to make a quilt for my own bed and i will defiently be using the batiks you have sent me!!!
so thank you sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo much! im so happy that our paths have crossed you are a wonderful friend!!!

when i came home from brisbane at the start of the week, i got home to see a squishie on the bench. of course darling husband had opened it to see if it was a pressy for him but he was greatly dissapointed lol.
instead it was a squishie from a Quilt chat friend called ROMIKA. full of christmas FQ's and a lovely pattern for a applique pillow cushion cover. and a pretty little label for the back of a quilt.
so that didnt appeal to my hubby too much but i sure was stoked by it
i dont know the reason for the lovely gift from romika but it defiently made my day!! so in return i am sending the lovely romika a bottle of merlot from the wine region in the town i grew up in!
i hope she likes it.
once again another dear friend that i am glad our paths have crossed ,im so glad to have found great friends like the ones i have. And i have Quilt Chat to thank for that!!
you all know who you are , i love you all and if you all ever come up my way to the sunny state of queensland australia. drop in there is always a coffee or bevvie with ya name on it.

Brisbane Quilt and craft fair.

HELLLOOOOOOOOO
how have you all been ?
well i havent been too bad i recently went to the brisbane Quilt and Craft Fair.
I didnt get to see much of it. we had a emergency in the morning that only allowed us to go for about 3 hours and thats not nearly enuf time to see and fondle all the goodies.

so heres some pictures of the exibition quilts, OF course i only took pictures of the ones i liked hehehe!
so this first set of pictures are some of the nicest ones there.
the stain glass quilt i fell in love with.
and the gum leafs reminded me of eva (yvonne) as eva is doing a gum leaf quilt at the moment and just wanted her to see this one as im wondering if she would tackle one like this next, lol.
There was another that depicted the australian scene is the windmill and old shack in a thunder and lightning storm i took a picture of the lightning close up as it was great.
at the top of the post are pictures of faces that just amazed me, they were done by a lorraine carthew, if you double click on the pictures it will open them up lots bigger , they were made up of lots of little about 2 inch squares all joined together,
the first one is of a famous australian poet (whom i cant remember his name lol, is it RM Williams??) and the second is of a famous australian cricket player (lol dont know his name either lol) could possibly be sir donald bradman im not quite sure . If anyone can tell me these names please post the answers, and the third is a man i dearly loved and was obsessed with as a child even tho he was assasinated before i was even born.
the great JFK.
this fine artist also did the mosac looking birds, they were unreal
the photos dont do any of the quilts justice at all.
There were some fabulous quilts there but unfortunately i didnt take my larger memory stick with me so i only got 22 pictures in total ,
Next time i will take the big memory stick and make sure i take more.

There were heaps of great stuff there, i was a little dissapointed to see that there wasnt more quilting stalls , as alot of it was in fact beading and paper crafts, scrapbooking. im not against any of those i just love quilting more lol.
