ebay!

I managed to spend $37 on ebay today. i bought 7 different packs and each pack has assorted larger pieces of material about 2mtrs in each pack so i got 1 pack for $5.30. which i thought wasnt too bad considering you pay more than that for 1 metre here in town. I cant wait till they get a spotlight here in gladstone, then i will be in 7th heaven lol.

for those who dont know what spotlight is , it is a big craft shop that sells everything to do with craft as well as curtain and blind materials , dinner ware, towels , sheets, blankets, it is wonderful. But the thing that makes it wonderful is that it is cheap with out being poor quality.

I like making quilts with lots and lots of different fabrics in them, you could almost call them scrap quilts.
The reason for this is that i like the fact that every time some one looks at it, they find something different in the blocks every time.
When i made my mother inlaws Autumn leaves Quilt, she said to me 3 weeks after giving it to her, "I have looked at this quilt everyday for 3 weeks and i only just realised that it has kangaroo's on it "
I laughed and said yep thats the whole idea mum , its so you dont get bored with it!
this is my daughter lily in her hula outfit grandma got for her when she went on her boat cruise around the islands , noumea, mystery island etc.

story behind my green machine!

here is a picture of my 1958 pinnock sewmaster, only released in australia i think! I bought it 6 months ago at a garage sale for $5 i didnt care if it worked or not i just fell in love with it as soon as i saw it . dunno why green is not really my colour , and it is 22 years older than me so i had no intentions of it working. got it home and plugged it in. lmao i then had the problem that i wasnt sure on how to thread it .

so i jumped onto Quilt chat and asked arnie pat if she had ever seen one let alone used one and she said nope sorry cant help you there hefty_Quilter never seen one of that kind before.

so i searched the net high and low and nothing. couldnt find a thing except there was one on sale on ebay , it had a manual with it .

I politely told the lady my problem and she was more than happy to assist me with a photo copy of the instruction manual for a total of $12 so now i was in bussiness.

i used that machine every chance i got . then came christmas last year and darling hubby bought me a $400 singer i got it home all excited to use it and didnt like it .

so i put it aside and used the green machine lol for the next 2 quilts and then i decided i would give the singer a second chance whilst making my 4th Quilt. Now i only use the pinnock for thick materials as it doesnt seem to like the thinner materials as much as it does the thicker stuff so that suits me fine . i never thought i would love a machine as much as i love my pinnock !!! do i have a sewing machine fetish???

here you go chutem !

well here is what i have been working on ! my little dresden fan blocks . i only have 12 more to hand applique onto the muslin blocks and then it is time to sew it all together. this quilt is for my brother in law and his wife.

2nd day on a new blog space

ok so i have changed my blog address to blogspot.com it is easier to use!! so any ways as promised 1 photo per day of things. I send a big hello out to all of my dearest friends in Quiltchat. with out you i probably would have quit quilting before i even finished my first quilt.

good to see after my constant nagging to some people you know who you are !!! that blogs have been updated. love you all and heres a pic. will put in some more later i mite even blog more than once a day too

For those who dont know me too well my name is Tracey and i am 27 in july, i live in a small but lovely coastal town on the east coast of australia in a place called " Tannum Sands" Queensland.

I have a 3 year old daughter and a 35 year old hubby whom is a boiler maker / sheet metal worker by trade. He truly tries to support my quilting addiction, but doesnt understand that fabric to me is like fishing to him lol.

So thats all for now my first picture will be of my tiny little work space in the spare room in which i perform random miracles lol .
